real vs. fake, nature vs. culture, art vs. instinct, original vs. made-up, physics vs.meta-physics, authenticity vs. phoniness, nietzsche vs. everybody, brain vs. emotion,… the great battle of human society is fought in the substrate of this album.
being as fake as possible: that's just me flipping samples off of youtube-converter, loading them into my cracked version of fruity loops, cutting them into little dequantized chops, putting them back together by accident, adding muddy overcompressed drums from my downloaded and thousands of bites-deep drumkit-collection, snapping hi-hats, maybe sum heavy subbass provided by the boy lex luger, sum crazy fleeps and greeps i collected over the years, then completing the opulent banquet with 1993-memphis-underground-rap-vocals someone ripped off a sold-out cassette, chopping and screwing them, slicing them like meat – ready 2 serve.
there were no real instruments, no real synthsizers, no real drummachines, no real musicians, no real singers, no real rappers, no real lonely-boys writing sentimental folksongs, no real characters, no real gangsta-attitude, no real facebook-channel, no real poses, no real gestures, no real swag, no real label, no real 3-headed-monster-posse; honestly just my fake-lenovo, my fake-internet, my yellow-plated (candy-on-chrome) fake-speakers – they sound pretty real though – and fake-me of course. fake walter-p99. fake arke$tra. and i'd pick being fake over real anytime, i'm tellin u!
so the album is really about trying 2 be fake in a world trying 2 be real. if u follow the hidden paths that were made up with this, if u look at what is sampled, what kind of rythms were used, what is quoted, and how it's done, then u can understand the world that's spanned up like wigwam in a national park with fake-redskins drinking liquor and gambling and beating their folklore-wives. a world u can consider „real“, if u want to.
the homie jacques derrida called it iteration, i call it underground phonk.
